Congresswoman Dina Titus Rallies Machinists at Grand Lodge Convention

During the opening plenary of the 40th IAM Grand Lodge Convention, Congresswoman Dina Titus (D-NV), representing Nevada’s 1st District, addressed delegates and praised IAM members for their hard work.

“Thank you, President Martinez and Secretary-Treasurer Cervantes, and all of you for choosing Las Vegas as the site for your 40th Convention,”  said Titus. “Las Vegas was hit really hard, so having you come here helps with our recovery and we really do appreciate it.”

Her remarks emphasized how unions are key to Nevada but to the whole country.

“The slogan is ‘I am strong’ and indeed you are,” said Titus. “When labor unions are strong, the whole country is strong.”

Titus has been a member of various committees critical to IAM members including the U.S. House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure Subcommittee.

“Las Vegas is a strong union town, labor built this town, they protect it, they serve it,” said Titus.“It’s all about what you have done over the years. We wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for you.”
